Proposed budget cuts would trim $650K from local anti-smoking efforts
The ongoing Pennsylvania budget impasse is forcing several area social service agencies to drop their smoking cessation and prevention programs as of Thursday, at least temporarily, officials said.The move was necessary because recent budget negotiations in Harrisburg suggest funding for the initiatives will be reduced by 50 percent statewide, anti-smoking advocates said today.
